Summer Program

Hosted every July is Weekend University's summer semester at UNBC or TRU. The students travel from their communities with their families to live on campus in single or family dwellings for one month. The students are enrolled in two courses and are involved in intense study for one month. This summer program accelerates the part-time study initiative.

Once a week students are encouraged to attend barbeques or events staged by Weekend University. In this way students network and visit away from school.

Summer Children's Program

Every year the Cariboo Chilcotin Weekend University is sponsored to create a daycare program for the children of students involved in the summer program. While the parents are at school attending classes or studying, their children take part in a number of activities.

The children are enrolled in week long activities such as volleyball, soccer, rugby, hockey and other outdoor sports. Educational camps such as Science and Computer camp stimulate the children's minds and teach them new and fun experiments.

Two certified Child Program Coordinators are hired to chaperone the children to and from their daily activities. The chaperones give the children moral support in a new environment.

Summer Program 2008 planning is currently in progress. Check back for more details.
